Also why does it seem like when I make a entity like func_breakable if I shift click it to copy it the entity does not get coppied.


1.) Instead of Right clicking it, click it and press CTRl + T

2.) I dont think there is a way you can tell how big a block is compared to the actual person.

3.) Not sure about the elevator...but just make sure your making it correctly....your probobly missing a critical step..

4.) it should copy....Make shure you let go of the mouse first and then SHIFT

Placing an entity outside a map will cause a leak. Place it in a place where players can't reach it instead(eg near the roof/sky).


May give u a little error at compiling but its no biggy, you can still play the map...

For the errors easiest way to get rid of them is just in hammer and going to MAP > Go To Brush Number > and type either 20, 21, 22 and then delete them, cuz thats why your getting that error.

This is an awp map so how can I make it so that they can only use awps and pistols and can't buy anything.


1.) Double check your paths, it should work fine if there correct...

2.) Not sure

3.) Trigger_push, if its going up then select the UP direction and make sure the speed is more then 800. Also the Brush must be the length you want it to push you up.

4.) Do you want the glass to break? If so then make the brush a Func_breakable, go to properties and make the material type, glass, make the render mode: Texture - Some Light. Change the FX Amount to how transparent you want it to be Number 1, is almost invisible 250 is solid. Make it 150, thats what i use. And lastly put a glass looking texture on it..

5.) make a brush Func_vehicle. Its hard to make a good car.

6.) Make a Brush outside of the map, somewhere were players cant reach and make the brush a func_buyzone. This will disable players from buying weapons. To make them spawn with guns make a Entity called Game_player_equip, in its properties you choose what weapons they start with and how many bullets,,,

Why can u fall through the map and die in this one area...?

Box textures are messed up

There are some small things you need to fix. Maybe you don't maybe you want it like that...But idk maps kinda small and empty

Just go to, MAP ---> Go To Brush Number, and fix those brushes

For Example, this is one of ur Errors:

Im Pretty sure... But w/e doesnt matter im probobly not going to make the map sense Hammer Crashes every time i try to Cut something (its a Big map)

You should have the sky Texture, just search for 'Sky' in your Texture, and sense its outside use Light_enviroment

Wow sound like a cool map if u ever finish it, but i doubt ull make a great waterfall.... Don't think u can make those with actual water that looks looks like its falling

Just make the floor thicker, its to thin. i compiled it all and it worked good after i made the floor thicker but still had 1 error. Im not sure what this one is though....But u compile it and see if u have it. You can still play the map with the error though.

nvm, its not hollow, LMAO, ok so what he did was put his map INSIDE a SOLID block

ok so this is what u need to do/fix.

1.) Delete the solid block your map is in and put 6 brushes around your map.

2.) Delete the 'Light' You have and put a 'Light_environment' Entity

3.) Add some weapons if u want with the 'game_player_equip' Entity

4.) Maybe add some blocks so ur players cant spawn kill, cuz they spawn right in front of each other

5.) Fix the wall thats on T Side cuz u can get stuck when u go up the ramp.

Your problem might be that your Wall have the AATRIGGER texture on them, change that to a the 'sky' or something else and see if that deletes some problems, and btw, pretty nice map for a test

oh and ur Walls, have to be made of 6 Brushes, you cant make one box, make it hollow and put ur map in there like you did. Correct me if im wrong rodeo, or someone.

post ur log file, most likely you will have this error...

Just check you have all your entites, like Player Spawns and a Light. They cant be touching the ground or be in a wall so keep them in the air.

Your REALLY not understanding....

That path that he gave u is what you should have in your .bat except you shouldn't have his path, you should have YOURS.

Ill show you, once again.

This is what I HAVE in my .bat:

How? Well, you just copy and paste your Path to your MAP Folder.

AND

Copy and Paste you Path to the Game that your map will me running.

And everywhere you see the word BOX you need to change that so it says YOUR map name. So for every Map you make you change the name in the .bat

If you have game player equip and u give someone both AK and M4 will they be able to like choose which they want when they press the number "1" if u understand what i mean....

Put your own textures on it....i put the sky texture on the walls but u probably don't have it, just change all the textures to your own. And it doesnt open at the end because ur .bat is wrong. Trust me, its wrong...

Ok, so im REALLY confused here....What exactly did u try to make? a Jump thingy? Wheres the Box u were talking about???

My questions to you....

1.) Why do u have a 2 Water Brushe in the same place?

2.) Where are your walls?

3.) Wheres the Light? Spawns? Weapons...?

4.) Is this the only map youve been working on, cuz i dunt see no BOX!!!?

I fixed it up and compilied it, and played it. Eerything went well except the fact that the Jumps were to big for sv_gravity 800 which means u cant play it and the water was a bit messed up, not sure what u did there....but everything else is good, so compile it and play it, and so u can actually do the jumps change the gravity to like 400 or something. U can do this when your in CS go to Console and type sv_gravity 400

Heres the .Rmf

Open it in Hammer and do the rest to compile

When your in Hammer and you go to File > Save as....thats what it saves it as, so where ever u saved it thats where it is...

Its not ALL right if CS doesnt launch after u compile.

But here is what you do.

Open CS

Click New Game

Select Your Map and start the server.

Make sure that all your entities are in your map...and not touching a wall or outside your map, for example maybe your spawn points are in the ground or maybe your light is outside the world....Check for those problems

as for the CS not opening its because your .bat file isn't correct. You have to have the EXACT path of it. The copy and Paste was my Path, you have to paste your own in there. But if thats too hard u can just Open CS click New Game and load your map. And if ur map isnt in the selection you take the .BSP and paste it in your cstrike/map folder

To move an Object:

1) On the top right of your Hammer Screen Click the Icon that looks like a Mouse.

2) Select the object you wanna move

3) Hold your mouse down in the middle of the object and slide your mouse the way you want the object to move.

No theres no spaces, i already extended them so there are no spaces, but ill try the sky thing.

EDIT: So i took away the sky and that didnt work.

Can it be cuz the brushes are very thin? cuz they are the smallest they can be....

O Ok so i made the tower thicker and its better now!

But 1 question. How come every time i move my ladder the Texture on it moves as well...?? Oh and if u have any nice Ladder textures tell me where i can find some...cuz i have 1 rusty texture and cant find any other ones...

OK, this is what you want to do.

1.) Go to your ZHLT Folder
2.) Right click in the folder and click New > NotePad and name the Notepad cs_hola.bat
3.) now right click on cs_hola.bat and click EDIT
4.) Paste this in there:

7.) Place it in your ZHLT Folder

8.) Go to your ZHLT Folder and double click on cs_hola.bat

9.) Once it is done press SPACE and CS should open and run your...uhh....Box

Ok so i have 2 towers and from far away they look weird cuz u can see lines in them....ill show u.

Its like you can see through the walls...on the second picture my Spray is not on the from of the tower, instead its on the left wall, and u can see though it....

EDIT:Uhhh...I think i misundertood ur question but you would do the same thing except turn the brushes using the TOP view...Its a little more complicated and myn isnt right cause i didnt make the brushes look like ramps but its the same way you would do it...(Click for image)

No what you said is correct, you double click to make thoe 4 circles at the edges and then u turn the Brush, and then once the brush is turned you click on it, Hold Shift and drag it to make a nother one, and give the second one a little less slope and put its bottem left alligned inside alligned with the 1st ones bottem right....If that makes sense...lol. I made some pictures to explain a little better....

Ok so Make a normal ramp, standing straight...like thi one

Now hold shift and make a copy of that one and give the 2nd one a little less slope and allgin the corners together (To allign the Corners better Press the [ Button for a bigger graph and the ] for a smaller one)

Ye, its better to play with higher FPS....but human eye can only see 60 FPS and going over 120 FPS isnt good in surfing

idk if it works...my FPS is generally 80, so i don't try to tweak it.

Game_player_Equip entity starts players off with w/e you want to give them. Knives, pistols, a para...u choose.

Ok, im a little confused.

I made a game_text entity, set its text to "Shame on you!" and put it in the door way. and then a trigger_hurt so players die when they walk into the door way.

So what is Trigger_multiple for? Also it doesnt display the message when i test it in the game...can u just explain a little bit more I'm still new to this

Ok so here it is: I have 2 Doors, 1 saying "End" and one saying "porn"

When a person goes into the "End" one i want it for it to display words on there screen like "Haha, jk. There's More."

And when they go into the "Porn" door they die and the Message says "Shame on you!"

So how i get the message to appear on there screen?

Those arent leaks... im not sure how to explain but here it but everything u make must be enclosed in a box or something so you don't see outside... as long as ur box is closed and has no holes in it everything else wont have leaks thats the best i can explain....



Ok look, theres the surf map im working on. Look how all the ramps are enclosed in a box....those are my lvls....and each one is enclosed with a box...and as long as that box has no leaks i can make anything i want in there...like the spawns i made just like the one in Surf_ski_2 and every other surf map...

1.) Make another floor on top of the one you already have, go to its properties(Ctrl + T) and make it a Trigger_teleport. Make it have the AAATRIGGER texture as well.

2.) Write "Jail" in its 'Target'

3.) Click on entity Tool, choose the info_teleport_destination and put it in your jail. Then name the entity "Jail"

Ye so this is what you do,

1.) Make a brush have Trigger_Hurt and make it so you can go through it somehow (idk)

2.) make a Brush and make it trigger_teleport and set its target to 'Terrorist' and put the Trigger_teleport brush into the Trigger_hurt but not COMPLETELY in it just enough so you can get hurt first.

3.) name the brush where u want them to spawn 'Terrorist' and do the same thing for the CT's just by changing the 'Target' and name for the spawns.

if you make a brush that has trigger_hurt and you make it so u go through it, never landing on it will it still hurt you? Cause if it does then u can make a brush like that and under it a Func_teleport and it teles them back to normal spawn...once they get hurt

Ye but u have to name the multi_manager 'Game_player_hurt' and set its target to fred by clicking 'Target' and writing 'Fred.' But there is no Target fuction on the Multi_manager....so you cant do that....so id say ur just better off dropping people off the sky

in the 35 HP maps u spawn in a box or something and u get hurt in it for 35 HP then it takes you down to the floor regularly...so u cant lose health. U probably did the hurt thing wrong

1. Make a trigger_hurt OR game_player_hurt with a name like 'fred'. Set it to do 65 damage.
2. Make a multi_manager named 'game_player_spawn'. Have it target 'fred'. And check the multithreaded flag on the multi_manager (IMPORTANT!).


1.) Ok When you make a Trigger_hurt you go into the brushes properties and you click 'Name' and give it the name 'FRED' and then go to damage and set it to '65'

2.) then you click the entity button and find Multi_Manager and go to its properties and name it 'Game_player_spawn' and then click target and write 'fred.' and then at the top there are Tabs, click on the Flags and check Multithreaded.


Thats just a little more detailed then what SuperJer said but i also relized there is no 'Target' function on the Multi_manager....

its just a knife map where u get 35 HP, that way you cant kill anyone with one Slash, but u can kill them with 1 stab

Stab = 65 Damage
Slash = 15 Damage

On the 1HP map people use Slash and not Stab...and 35 they use Stab....

Ye....and on 100 HP You needa Stab someone 2 times....and its not a Type of map, its just a map that someone made called 35_HP or w/e its called...

Maybe you should make a Map with 65 HP....it will be original

Its quite popular and it only consists of two spawns, and a bridge connecting them....thats pretty much the whole map, other then bottem floor which has watter...

in 1HP the floor isnt even thats how come you sometimes you get more HP, only if you spawn where the floor is higher.....other then that youll get 1 HP or you will die by Crouching and falling to the floor...

So if your players don't crouch and you have a Even floor then your players will always get 35 HP

If you don't have the 'Sky' Texture then add the Cstrike.wad, im pretty sure its in there...then make all sides of your sky brush have that texture and it should work. But i have a question. What is the exact name of one of your .TGA files.

When you go to map properties you then go to Environment and add the name of the environment. If you don't have any custom ones then just write one of the names from this website. You have them all.

SuperJer, he needs to know how to make a T start with Glock and make a CT start with USP. With Game_player_equip they both spawn with the same weapon. He wants different guns for Each Team.

Well, do you HAVE the islandsunset sky?

These are the Default Sky's that come with CS:

Put one of those names in the Properties and they will show up.

Also, when i was learning how to make a sky i didn't know u had to put the "sky" texture on it for it to show up, so heres a Step by Step.

1.) Make ALL SIDES of your sky brush have the 'Sky' Texture. In your Textures Search for one called "Sky" and Set it as ur Texture for ALL SIDES of the brush. Its light blue and will show the light blue in Hammer but will Show the 'Sky' in the Game. [Ed. -SJ]

2.) Go to Properties and Write one of the names of the Skies from this Website: http://www.vlatitude.com/resources/cs_sky.php

3.) Click OK and Compile and See your Sky.

Cant help you with the first one. Maybe SuperJer Can...

but as for the 2nd, everytime i load the map with the CMD that pops up i never get health a radar or anything...try opening just CS and clicking New Game and loading your map without the CMD. and see if it gives u the stuff

ehh to make players start with weapons you need to put the Game_player_equip entity and go to its Options (Alt + Enter) and choose which guns they get and how many bullets.

Maybe you need the Expert FGD, if u dont have game_player_equip

Hmm, didn't work. This is what happens.

Every time i put the Trigger_push entity on the Brush it is gone in the game, but the Trigger_push is still there, just no brush...

Ugh, everything was good, i made the trigger_push on a ramp and then i tested it and realized you need to get to the end of the ramp for it to activate so i clicked on the ramp and clicked Ctrl + T and it said something about new entity or keep the current so i clicked Yes but nothing popped up so i went to map ---> entity Report and click on trigger_Push and click Delete and it said "delete Object" and i clicked yes, so when i put the entity on the other ramp it was gone......it was gone in game but not in Hammer....so how do i make it visible in game again....

Was wondering if its possible to make an invisible wall, meaning you can't see it or go through it...I have seen some...they block people from taking shortcuts on maps. If that's not possible then how do i make a wall thats glass and translucent. My guess is to make a brush, make it translucent and put a glass texture on it? but i could be wrong....

Now i was wondering if you know how to make a boost? like your surfing on a ramp and it gives you a burst/boost and makes you go faster...

I ask too many question's don't I....

EDIT: Maybe that translucent part is the way to make a wall invisible, and just not adding texture.....?

So I am trying to get a sky...now i've read around and ive gotten a sky showing...the default one the desert one...now i dont want that one so i Downloaded a Custom environment map:

I put all 6 .TGA files into my \counter-strike\cstrike\gfx\env folder and went to map ---> Map Properties. Now...the files are called ()nynight_lt.tga ()nynight_ft.tga and alll the other ones...in Map properties i typed cl_()mynight_ft....compiled and still was desert...so i tried more....

and thats all none of them work....what am i doing wrong?

1.) My map isn't that big, but you still can't see the wall on the other side, only when u get close, how do i make it so i can see the wall from any distance....?

2.) Whats the difference between Hollow Brushes and Solid?

3.) How can i make my character Spawn with a gun, like a scout?

4.) How can i make it so when the character touches a certain brush, he dies?

Ye, thats all for now....I have plenty of others but I'll just figure those out first....

Oh ye, and You know how on some surf Maps, there are levels....well how do u make it so when u land on a brush it takes you to another....

I get the Error that says this....

Description: This error is almost always caused by an invalid brush, by having huge rooms, or scaling a texture down to extremely small values (between -1 and 1)

How to Fix: Find the invalid brush. Any imported prefabs, carved brushes, or vertex manipulated brushes should be suspect

I'm not sure how to fix....
