Thanks!!!
User
mmmmmm
okay then.

Thanks
User
Anyone?
User
I want to add some stuff to it(wads, sprites,sounds....etc). Ill have it for download on my website.(I know i can have individual folders for every map with wads and sprites and so on, but i still wan to know how to do this.
User
hi,

I want to edit my counter-strike.gcf but GCFScape wont allow me to drop or import any files/folders(i can only extract the existing contents).
How can this be done?

Thanks a bunch!
User
ok, no funk_walls then.

thanks.
User
In Map>Map Properties i found: Max viewable distance which is set to: 4096.
If this is the what you are talkin about then what do i have to set it to? Is there a specific number?
User
ill have a look on google.
User
Do i have to assign a fun_wall to every wall in my map? Because when i test the map an run a bit, when i look back some of the structures(walls) dissapear or bigin dissapearing at different angles and different distances.
My map is not big. Why could this be happening?
Thanks.
User
Anyone?

There must be a way because someone had to put them sounds on them brushes, right? They cant just appear out of nowhere. Im lookin on the net regarding brushes with sound but i havent found much so far.(bin lookin for 5 min)
User
"ritual" said:
okay so i have a question....... how do you make glass that is only breakable through one side of it and not on the other side???
Yea, is this possible? It would be quite neat.
User
yo,

Can someone please tell me, is there is a way to change a textures sound that 'plays' when walkin/running to a different one?

Thank youuuu....
User
BLAH
User
ok, thanks.
Im using the vertex tool more now.
User
hm, weird. Im guessing its Hammer with its 'bag of tricks' or should i say 'flicks'?
I didnt do anything different when clipping these walls comparing to the other ones which work. So it does seem a lil weird.........
No worrys, thanks superjer.
User
right, so im rebuilding my map. I had a few little errors but managed to fix them with the Check for Problems(alt+p) wizard. Now i've got the 'plane with no normal' error but if i try and fix it automatically with Check for Problems(alt+p) it wont fix its self. I know which brushes are 'affected'(walls) but i dont undestand why. Heres how i join/cut my walls: http://img255.imageshack.us/img255/2735/wallcuthammeruk6.png
I did this on other brushes aswell but they seem to be fine.
Why is this?
User
LOL. I was away from mappping for about a month and seems like i forgot about compiling. I dont know what got into me.
Thanks and sorry for the unecessary post........
User
Heres a good site aswell. It has quite a bit of stuff on how to do things.

When u says 'compile half of the map' u just mean cut the whole map(house) in half? with the clipping tool or something?
Or is there something different to do?
User
Right........once again! im getting the Bad surface extents error when im trying to compile a map. However i cant seem to find the point of where the log says the 'corrupt' brush is. I found the point but theres no brush there at all. Its all within the map.

Can someone suggest me on what i could do?
-I get no errors if i check for any.
-I got no complicated brushes with the texture that the log is saying is corrupt(i dont have any complicated brushes at all really)
-Errrm, dont know what else......I tried the latest version of zhlt but it dont make any fdifference.
User
I went and tried to get help on Verc Collective forums. It turns out it was the way i was building the building. I had double walls. As in 2 thin layers of brushes('walls') placed one next to each other to make the map size smaller instead of having full blocks of brushes. (I know i can carve brushes out but still its not what i wanted, but at the end thatts what i ended up with:( ha) O well, good enough.
So thanks to everyone who tried helping me out with this, especially SuperJer but now ive got a different problem, haha. Its a Bad surface extents problem (AGAIN) but this time its proving to be quite a bit harder to solve. Ill post a new 'Truck' in Hammers and Mallets if ppl can have a look and give me there suggestions that would be nice!

Thanks!
User
its not big at all, even without it i still get the same error.(though i dont have any leaks)
User
there not.(i wish they were)
User
What do you mean by: I might have too many brush faces?

This map now only has 4 walls, 2 ceilings and one sky. Theres nothing else besides 2 player entities. I also put the whole map into a hollowed out box just incase.
User
Can someone please help with this? I've had this problem for about a month now and no one is replying.
Superjer; i sent you an e-mail with the map zipped and a PM regarding this but you havent replied.

#1: http://www.superjer.com/learn6.php and use the 'entity creation tool'.

#2 just use thick brushes.(not hollowed out ones) I dont know about the bots tho. Wair for someone else to reply. I've only just started mappin recently.
User
User
I tried to make another map(remake of the other one).

I've got 4 walls with a floor and a ceiling. Theres nothing else on the map and im still getting the same error......
None of my brushes over-lap nor do i have anything 'spectacular' carved out. Like i said "4 walls" thats all i have.

User
haha
User
when i tried to search for problems, i got a No Errors Found message and i dont have any huge brushes. anything else you could recommend?
User
yea i noticed that last night but since them brushes r used quite alot in my map i thaught maybe ill wait and c if theres some other way out.
Neways, i tried to remove it and retexture it but once i did, id get a new error. Its saying the same thing just for another brush. And this brush is/are my walls..............:( which is the main part of the map.......lol!!! (althaugh it aint funny)

What can i do?

I really dont want to start building the map all over again. Theres quite a bit to it already and since im a new mapper i cant get around Worldcraft as fast as i would want to.

So is there any other alternative to this problem?.......

Tha MAN?
User
superjer, just like i said; Ur tha MAN!!!!!

I copyd and cut up one of the balkonys from cs_militia. It had alot of brushes laying one over another. As soon as i deleted it, it all went good. Well, now it gives me another error: [code:1]Error: Bad surface extents[/code:1]

I've got 9 wads included but that cant be the cause of this error. I removed one leaving 8 WAD's left (restarted Worldcraft) but nothing has changed......

superjer?? any thaughts?.....your the Man on this stuff.

i really wanna test this map but untill i can solve this problem i cant do much really.......besides sit here and ball my eyes out :(

I got this error when trying to compile my map:[code:1]hlbsp: Error: Exceeded MAX_LEAF_FACES
Description: This error is almost always caused by an invalid brush, by having huge rooms, or scaling a texture down to extremely small values (between -1 and 1)
Howto Fix: Find the invalid brush. Any imported prefabs, carved brushes, or vertex manipulated brushes should be suspect[/code:1]

I dont have any extremely huge room nor did i resize a shape really really small......
I fixed all the problems which existed(Alt+p) but i still get the same error.
Is there a particular way of finding out which shape/brush is corrupt?
Thanks!

Use Map->Check For Problems... and fix the invalid solid structues.

You have brushes with multiple faces that could just as well all be the same Face. Not allowed.

Outside world

This happens sometimes when Hammer creates the .MAP file. Open the .MAP file directly in Hammer and delete the UBER-GIGANTIC brushes if you find any.

This can also happen if you put brushes too close to the edge of the grid.

Ass soon as i fixed the solid invalid structures error, saved the map, closed it. Opend it again and the whole map was gone......
It had a bunch of other errors as well but now since the map is gone i cant really tell u what it said....... Why could this have happened?

Regarding the Missing Solids error:
Before when i first opened the map there were 26 missin solids but now since ive added some other .WAD's i only get a 4 Missin Solids Error The weird thing is that the solids which are missing, got the the same texture as the other solids which arent (which appear on the map). Why could this be?

Thanks alot!
User

How could i fix this?
Thanks!
User
i odnt know y but when i tried it first time it didnt seem to work. Maybe i was just lookin at it funny (angle wise).
Its workin now!!!!! YAY!

Aciu labai! Is klaipedos gal?
User
haha, :) UK, london. your self?

but how can i rotate the brushes horizontaly/sideways?
Not forward or backward.

Thanks!
User
im trying to edit cs_militia map. i want to add a latter; ive duplicated one of the existing ones but its at a wrong angle. I tried CTRL+M (the transformation dialog) but it rotates vertically instead of horizontaly, (if you get what i mean)

How can i rotate it horizontaly?
User
hmmmmm....
User
ok, but what about the missin solids?
User
when you say "you must edit texture positions..." what do you mean by that?
User
hi,

i've just opened a .MAP (cs_militia) map in Worldcraft and it said:
[code:1]For your information, 26 solids were not loaded
due to error in the file.[/code:1]
I used winbspc to decompile the map from .bsp to .MAP and chose the Best matching Texture option.
How could i fix this?
User
hi,

when i try to use ZHLT to compile my map i get an error.
i made the .bat file and all; in your HOWTO it says run the .bat file. But if i just 'run it' it opens in Notepad.
So i then thaught ill just grab the .bat file and drop it over one of the ZHLT.exe appz. (i droped it on hlbsp.exe) Which produced a .err file with the following inside: [code:1]hlbsp: Error: Can't open C:\zhlt\map1_basic.bat.p0[/code:1]

How can i make this compile a success?

Thanks!
