I've been mapping for about a year. Mostly on and off. Well I've found that with my videocard if I have my drivers updated to the most recent firmware then Hammer won't let me select individual sides of an object to texture them. Is there anyway to fix this? I have an ATI Radeon x850+ graphics card. I could always make objects and just have them be extremely skinny but that would be annnoying when I could use one block to cover multiple textures on each side.

Thanks

Well I figured it out and incase anyone else has the problem, if your using ATI and you update to the newest driver it will do that. So just go back to a roll back driver. Or get a new graphics card, which Im about to do!

I reinstalled twice and still no luck...

could it be that I updated my video card drivers? which everything else still selects its just in the 3d camera view it won't.

Well I've been mapping for awhile and I took like a week long break. I came back and I can't select any objects by clicking on them in the 3d window. Only in the graph windows. It's on every map too. Any ideas?

So ya, Im using the decals out of decals.wad to add the guides for the bombsites and the target for the bombsites, only 2 of my 10 decals are working and I didn't change anything different on them. Weird thing is one of insite bombsite decals works but not the other one. and I did a shift-drag on them...

Anything?

With the brush numbers it tells you go to the button up top that says Map then Go To Brush Number. Type in the numbers it tells you and check em out on the map each individually. Also, when your compiling a map your walls expand a little bit (64 units) so try to make sure that your brushes aren't to close to the skybox or w.e. you have surrounding your map. (I assume you have a giant box since your new to mapping)

select the { texture and click the toEntity button. Make it a Func_wall and make the rendermode solid and the fxamount to 255 like jer said. Make sure your not using them as decals 2. Otherwise its a texture.

there light textures, the ones with "+" infront of there names that are supposed to emit light on there own without an entity. So I placed a bunch of them around my map and only like 2 of them and the others dont.
User
I got some lighting textures in the ceiling, there all the same height and theres no special settings on them. Only about 2 out of 15 of them work...
User
Some of em are working and some of them arent...they're all at the same level and height and I didnt add any special commands...

help?

Ive actually been able to compile other maps. I think it might just be the wads because notice how it messes up before the wads. Hm...its bugging me though.
