This is to do with shared memory, I suspect you will not be able to do it on a desktop card. As you say, what's the point? It'd be slow as hell and you already have enough, so they don't let you. Everyone stares when you walk in the room, they stare when you go....

Well maybe I'll try it out on my laptop, then. Though, iirc my laptop only has 2 gb of ram, and, I think it's safe to assume that I'll need all the ram I can get in just about any program that's going to be graphics-intensive. So it's a lose-lose situation :(
