Does anyone here have an ATI graphic card with a 7.11 driver or above? Because I'm wondering:

This is likely to happen if you're running on an ATI Graphics Card. Thanks to them dropping OpenGL support in their latest drivers (anything above 7.11), you can't select anything in Hammer's 3D window.

Does this mean that you can't play any games that require OpenGL support? Like Star Wars JKJO/JKJA or CS in Open GL mode?
...and that's the bottom line because Mate de Vita said so.

AMD haven't actually dropped the support for it. It just seems to be a really poor implementation. There's one function (GL_SELECT) which now takes up to four seconds on the 4000 series cards. It's really poor and another reason to dislike closed-source software. However they have been getting better. Is it not the case that you can get legacy drivers from the ATi driver site anyway?

Well you can get legacy drivers but they're not supported anymore. So if you have a problem, you have no one to turn to.
Anyway I have an ATI RAGE 128Pro card on my computer and I tried installing the legacy driver for it but it doesn't work. Says it's not compatible...

I had an ATi RAGE on my old PC. It was only about 2 MB. But then, this computer is ten years old. I now have an ATi 1650 Pro which is not hefty enough for my liking. I want an nVidia 290, perhaps.

I think the support stopped by AMD, better you upgrade or change the graphic card.
