Hi...

step 7... i named my map like on tutorial -> "mapname.map"..

In my folder are these files:
hlbsp.exe
hlcsg.exe
hlrad.exe
hlvis.exe
mapname.bat
wad.cfg
zhlt.wad
mapname.map

Here is my bat log

i dont understand why is on mapname.bat written "mapname.bsp" cuz in my folder is "mapname.map" .. is that okay?


so where is the problem? And my cstrike.wad is OK, i tried on 3 versions of my CounterStrike-s and no-one went..

It looks like your ZHLT folder is not on the same hard drive as cstrike.wad.
If you have Counter-Strike installed on (E:), ZHLT should be on the same disk.

And yes, it is normal that it says 'BSP'. You see, BSP is the map's format after compiling.

Try start CS manually and at the main-menu choose New Game and choose your map in the list.

Got everything right. don't remember anything about a .prt file???

in the 'mapname.err' file i get this

hlvis: Error: Portal file 'mapname.prt' does not exist, cannot vis the map

The PRT file is created by ZHLT in your ZHLT folder. If it was not created, this means there was a different error. Take a look at mapname.err for the problem.

There should be a line in the CS tutorial that says something like "If you receive the error 'mapname.prt does not exist' this is not your real error. In fact it means that hlbsp has not run so there will be another error instead which prevented hlbsp from running." That isn't an amazing sentence but it gets the point across.

I can do better than that - check back for edits. In fact I can't be bothered, it's going to stay crap.

You see where it says "No entities exist in hull #"? That's your real error.

Does your map have the info_player_start, info_player_deathmatch and a light entities?

So make sure the entities are not touching any wall/floor/ceiling.

If that's not it, you might have an entity outside your map. This is less common, though.

i figured out the problem:) there was a glitch with the ceiling so i remade it now i dont get the error folder. but now when i go to play it it doesnt work. i click start game and it does nothing..... any ideas?

alright i figured it out. the ' in zach'smap made it so i couldnt play. i went and changed all to zachsmap and now it works. thanks for all your help. all of you it is greatly appreciated.

Could be damaged brushes, press Alt+P in Hammer to check for errors.

Could also be that your map is too close to the end of the grid, if so goto "Edit"-->"Select all" and move the whole map closer to the center of the grid.
