Q: why is my map lagged
basically it depends on the "how much do i have" and the "how do i make Little of it"

how much objects do you have?
instead of LOTS boxes side by side (next to each other) just make one big rectangle and apply decals to the object!

to much complex models?

how big is the map?

is there a leak?

PRT file: missing - REAL SOLUTION!!!

1. edit your map for only little bit and save it anywhere to your PC in --rmf--!
2. click file->export to map and save it to same folder where you have zhlt compiler.
3. if portal file allways missing retry it

The sky box is simply a brush with the SKY texture. You make your roof, maybe the upper part of a hedge or wall out of this texture, and the sky brush will show an area around your map.
you should try and see :).

How do i make a switch to turn lights on and off?

First make the lights (or a single light it doesn't matter) where you want them to be.Select the lights you made (or the one light,if you made one) by holding control and then press Alt+Enter.On the "Name" field put a name you can easily remember (let's say 'Light').

Then make a button with the block tool somewhere (make sure you can reach it ),select it and press Control + T to open the "Object Properties" window.Select "func_button" from the list.Then put the name of the lights in the "Target" field,and you're done.(On the flags tab of func_button i usually check the "Don't move" box because it's better that way)

Note:If you do it this way the lights will be ON when you start.If you want them to be OFF select the lights you made,then alt+enter and go to the "Flags" tab.Check the "Initially Dark" box and they will be turned off when you start.

You can't close off maps with transparent textures!

If you do so - you will get a leak and the map will fail to compile.

Give weapons to players on start
Create one single game_player_equip for all players in the map. You can set what weapons will be given in the entity's properties, or even make the players spawn with sparks flying around!
Note the more than one weapon of each category can be given at once. e.g. A player can receive AWP, M4A1 and AK47 all at once!


I cant find game_player_equip. Where to find it?
I am map editor!
