pent4 ibm desktop does not "see" my other ram sticks

i recently crashed my computer and it says i only have 1gig of ram.
i have 4 sticks inside of it.
any suggestions?
also i know there not working cause minecraft is being a laggy sum bitch,

never mind, i looked at the ram sticks and they are just quarter sticks, not gig sticks :\
i could of swore that i had 4 gigs...
I am on a journey that I hope I will never finish.

You would need to pull the sticks out to see what they really are. If they don't say somewhere directly on a stick, there should at least be a brand and model number for you to googlez to ascertain how much ram you really have. Maybe try reseating it, too, just for kicks.

Sorry for implied step three...
1.)Remove RAM
2.)Write down what's printed on the RAM sticks: info such as make, model, and capacity
3.)Put the RAM back in
Step 2 tells you how much RAM you physically have. Given the age of your processor, I wouldn't be surprised if it was 4x256mb sticks equaling one giga. If the RAM sticks say they are bigger than that, keep investigating. Maybe just re-seating will have done the trick, or maybe there are errors elsewhere. Start in the BIOS and poke around there until the BIOS recognizes all of your RAM, and then the same in Windows. You probably won't have to do this; I bet you one internet you only have a gig's worth of sticks in there.
