Because the sum of points you got take away the sum of points you lost is zero.

P = Pgiven - Ptaken

By looking at this basic formula, you can easily see that if there was no giving or taking, you will have 0 points.

The integral of this function shows you the rate at which you piss off admins.

Rates generally run by time (SI seconds) so I figured I'd run with that. But that's the problem, I have no idea what the integral would mean if that were the case. 1 = 2 we hope that you choke

I said it won't give you anything because there are no seconds.

If it were points per second, the derivative would give you points at a given time. The integral would give you the "acceleration" of how fast you get points.

None of this matters! There is no time involved and even if there was, who cares?

Nah, this is the point! You have to integrate with respect to something; same for the derivative. The derivative is defined as a small change in one variable divided by a small change in another (where both changes are very very small). The integral is not as intuitive as that. So when you said "the rate you piss off admins" I assumed you meant the rate that points change with time. Therefore the integral of points would be, I dunno, actually, I fancy breakfast now. 1 = 2 we hope that you choke

The thing is, native speakers often speak the language more incorrect than foreign who have learned the language by the rules. I feel educated.

I feel horror when I see those who supposedly speak English as their native tongue mangle it horribly. Though that isn't a great sentence. I have noticed that as I see more and more spelling mistakes on the webernets I am starting to make those too! It is very annoying and embarrassing. 1 = 2 we hope that you choke

Technically, I don't take away points, but rather add negative points. So:

P = Pgiven + Ptaken

And Ptaken is always negative.
