Could someone please explain to me the difference between embezzlement and counterfeit? I mean, don't they both mean faking documents and stuff?
...and that's the bottom line because Mate de Vita said so.

I don't hear the word embezzlement used often enough to really tell you the difference in usage between the two.

Lots of couples of words in English have the same meaning except one small difference in which using the wrong preposition makes you accidentally say a fancy word for vagina.

Counterfeit is an adjective - it tells you that certain documents or whatever are fake, you know. Embezzling is the act of stealing money by the use of counterfeit documents, maybe. Not always. There are many methods.

counterfeit: Fake documents, money, etc.

embezzlement: Stealing something you already have, but does not belong to you. For example if I trust you with handling my money and you take it for yourself and buy Thai prostitutes. It's not really stealing since I willingly gave it to you, it's embezzlement. And then I hire Anton to put a hole in the back of you're head. And that's conspiracy to commit murder.
