help help..................... in Hammer Mapping

i have made map but not able to compile.........
is it necessary to compile a map we have steam..
on the page (given below)
"http://www.superjer.com/learn7.php"
what is this with steam and without steam.....
plz i have no steam on my laptop........
how to compile....is there any shortcut.....
and what is steam

plz help me .....couldn't open file overview/catpee.txt in Hammer Mapping

I think my steam is not working properly
how to check if it is working.
and whats the size of the steam folder.
when i run as admin it says file not found catpee.bsp
plz tell me requirememt for compiling
......is there any other method for compiling the map

plz help me .....couldn't open file overview/catpee.txt in Hammer Mapping

at compile time
c:catpee.bsp
access is denied
press any key to continue

also there is no error(ERR) file genrated

and game starts
with catpee map loaded in it

and there is all black in it when it starts

at upper it says "couldn't open file overview/catpee.txt.using default values for overview mode"
plz help me....
