hi agn....ummm....cud sum1 explain step by step hw to make a ladder in my maps and also hw to make it work(especially that)....

also hw do i make/gt water to be......in my maps???

Some people ask first and don't look. Umm, what is it about it you don't understand? I managed to wrap my brain around it - you need the three pieces because one is what you see, one is what you climb on and one is what you can't walk through.

The func_whatever things are brushes that do particular things, like, for instance, be a ladder. Or behave like water. Stuff like that. Generally one can guess by the name.

to make a func_whatever, just make a normal brush and then press CTRL+T to turn it into an entity.
...and that's the bottom line because Mate de Vita said so.

mate de vita, thnx mayn .....thts what i needed to kno....and now cud sum1 tell me ths:

i did wht it says in the tutorial.....i got the three parts thng and awl...i arranged them as it says...compiled my map and yet it didnt work.....it just shows a ladder....u cnt climb it and i cnt see thru it.........

are you sure that you selected a texture with the name that starts with {?
and did you put the climby part in front of the other two?

The part with the ladder-texture needs to be tied into func_illousionary with "Render Mode" set to "Solid" and "FX Amount" to 255. And make sure to look through your compile log for any errors like leaks etc.

Also, learn to use correct punctuation in your forum-posts.

and u misspelled illusionary. does that count as a puncuation mistake? i dont think so....but you should really have learned to spell illusionary by now...just saying.

oh! okay, i did the tying part. now i put the texture/entity in the same space as the 'c' (clip)texture and in front of it(but touching the othere two brushes) i placed the pinkish 'T' (climby part) brush....i compiled it and in my map it comes up as a ladder (which i can see through) but the 'T' part is infront of the ladder but i cant climb it.

the CLIP brush should NOT be tied to an entity and must be textured with CLIP on ALL SIDES
the FUNC_ILLUSIONARY brush must be set to SOLID and 255 FX

right click the aaatrigger brush, tie to entity, select func_ladder from drop down menu, make sure the purple/aaatrigger brush is in front of the CLIP and the FUNC_ILLUSIONARY brushes, all sides of the brush must be textured with AAATRIGGER
