The brush is the object you created. Not anything like a paintbrush. Your problem sounds like it would be solved by just a little trial and error clicking and dragging just to see what happens.

The worst thing that could happen is that you'd mess up a map with nothing in it.

No, i read all of them but what file? i named my map cs_hola so what would the file be. i put the cs_hola.bsp file into cstrike maps.

How? and it said if i click the "command window" it would atomically run cs on that amp with single player mod how do i do that?

When you went through the whole compile process there would be a line at the end of the file saying steam.exe +applaunch 10... blah blah blah. That SHOULD in theory run counterstrike with the appropriate nubbins. Assuming you have steam counterstrike. Everyone stares when you walk in the room, they stare when you go....

Umm okay i made the readme thing with word i copy and pasted the thing with my map name in it then i put the cs_hola.bsp in cstrike maps what next?

Open up a command line from start->all programs->accessories (it might be in a subfolder). Use the 'CD' command to change to the appropriate directory for your steam install. Then type out the final line of the bat file and press enter. It should launch CS with your map and singleplayer and all that nonsense. When you say that your .bsp map is in your /maps/ folder do you mean it's been transferred there already? If so use the above method. And I'm going home now, so you won't get messages from me for a few hours. Everyone stares when you walk in the room, they stare when you go....

umm okay i found my map under new game i click on it and it loads then Counter-Strike turns off... anyone know?

Your map is most likely broken in some way. Therefore, it crashes. Saying that is it an entirely legal copy? Not that I think you're cracking but that is often the cause of random crashes. Just a thought.

In fact, scratch that, you have Steam. This makes cracking unlikely. Everyone stares when you walk in the room, they stare when you go....

OK I'm running Ubuntu and don't actually have any of this software installed. I have bits of it on Windows but I cannot be bothered switching over. So when it says "press any key" press the 'any' key' button, it is near the left control and shift keys.

The one that is called whatever your map is called (was it cs_hola?) and suffixed with .bat, in this example

cs_hola.bat
